FLEXXALUMINA® Sustainable Electronics Redefined: The Pioneering 100% Recyclable PCB

The global challenge of dealing with electronic waste (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, WEEE) is enormous. According to a World Economic Forum (WEF) source, over 50 million tons of electronic waste are produced worldwide annually. This mountain of e-waste shows no signs of abating, and Germany alone is contributing to this fastest-growing waste stream, with 2.1 million tons in 2022.

In this context, it is crucial to find sustainable solutions to minimize the impact of electronic waste on the environment. This is where companies like Plasma Innovations come into play. The development of recyclable electronics and aluminum circuit boards shows that the electronics industry is taking the challenge of sustainability seriously. The use of recyclable aluminum instead of FR4 and copper in the newly developed circuit board is an example of the shift to more sustainable materials. This helps to reduce the consumption of raw materials and promote the use of recycled materials.

Likewise, the complete recyclability of the complete electronic modules is an important step in minimizing electronic waste. If these products can be dismantled and broken down into their individual parts at the end of their lifespan, they create the basis for a closed recycling cycle.

FLEXXALUMINA® Printed Circuit Boards (PCB)

FLEXXALUMINA® PCB combines the excellent thermal and electrical characteristics of aluminum with proven base board materials to manufacture high performance and low weight PCBs at the lowest possible cost. Our Flexxal® surface treatment makes aluminum solderable like LF-HAL copper conductor traces.

FLEXXALUMINA® Flexible Printed Circuits (FPC)

FLEXXALUMINA® FPC combines the excellent thermal and electrical characteristics of aluminum with the dielectric properties of PET to build high performance and low weight FPCs at the lowest possible cost base. Our FLEXXAL® surface treatment makes aluminum solderable like LF-HAL copper conductor traces.

Lower Cost

Up to 25% lower in cost than existing Copper-PCB/FPC solutions

More Sustainable

Based on largely available and easy to recycle material. Reduced C02 emissions by up to 50% weight reduction
